Base Outdoors is a family run business located in Auckland, New Zealand.

We are passionate about the outdoors and believe in a leave no trace philosophy. 
At Base Outdoors we also believe business can be a driver of positive change, and we have created this business with the intention of supporting local industry and conservation efforts. By buying from Base Outdoors, you are supporting many local jobs from the wool producers to designers, pattern makers, printers, cutters and sewers as well as many other supporting industries. 

You are also supporting conservation as 8% from every Merino product sold goes directly to our friends at Forest & Bird so that they can continue their amazing work protecting our native flora and fauna and giving nature a voice! If you would like to learn more about the work they are doing, please click here.

We are also passionate about natural fibers having been involved in supplying these to the soft furnishing industry for over 20 years. This love of natural fabrics has lead us to Merino wool which we have fallen in love with. Our flagship range is Base Outdoors Merino. Our Merino garments are made using 100% New Zealand Merino wool, and they are designed and made here in New Zealand. Buy selling these direct through this website, popup shops and various outdoor clubs and organisations we can keep our prices as low as possible while maintaining the quality high! Competing against imported goods with very low labour costs is not easy, so we need your support to help spread the word. 

We will be adding further unique carefully selected products to the website over time. Every product we add to this site has been tested by ourselves in New Zealand's challenging outdoor environment and are products we believe in! We will be working to reduce packaging waste wherever possible and continue the conversation about conservation! These are cornerstones of our business.
