Merino Care Instructions

CARING FOR YOUR MERINO GARMENTS
At Base Outdoors we select easy care Merino fabrics from quality mills to ensure you receive a garment that will last as long as possible while looking as good as possible. Wool garments do require some extra care however the benefits of using this amazing natural fibre far outweigh these extra steps for yourself and the environment.
Your garment will have care instructions attached however we cover these in a little more detail below.
MOTHS LOVE MERINO TOO! WHY ARE THERE HOLES IN MY MERINO?
Just as we love the super soft fibres of Merino so do clothes moths! Clothes moths lay their larvae on your precious woollens, especially when in storage and they feed on your fabric leaving tiny holes in your garments! When storing your woollens, ensure you have washed them beforehand following the care instructions below, when thoroughly dry place them in a sealed plastic bag or container. It is important to ensure the garments are dry to avoid any moisture build up inside the bag especially during long term storage. Please try and save the bag for next time to reduce plastic waste. Clothes moths love the dark so avoid leaving your Merino on the line overnight if possible. Placing some Lavender oil or Cedar Oil near where you keep your woollens can also act as a deterrent.
